The Rock Island Grand Prix is a legendary street race that has been a mainstay of North American karting for more than two decades. And this year, it once again featured a showcase of the top drivers in the country going head-to-head in front of packed crowds.
For Riley Scott and Carter Pryor, winning has become somewhat of a routine in 2022. Both drivers have been absolutely on fire this year. And with the draft-dependent track layout of Rock Island, they entered the weekend with a teamwork-based strategy that put them straight to the front in nearly every session.
Riley’s weekend featured a pair of checkered flags, taking the win in both the 206 Briggs Heavy 2 and Briggs 206 Medium 1 Main Events! Both of which had him beating out a grid that featured numerous Rock Island winners.
Carter Pryor also had a very impressive weekend. In the Briggs 206 Medium 1 Main Event, he worked with Riley throughout the race and raced Riley to the line, losing out by just 0.076 of a second! The pair clinched an IONIC Edge chassis 1-2 result in the process. Carter also ended 3rd in the Briggs 206 Medium 2 Main Event, going a perfect 2-for-2 in classes entered and podium finishes!
Not to be outdone by his superstar son, Jeff Scott was behind the wheel this weekend as well as on the wrenches. HIs outing in Briggs 206 Masters started off strong with a Top 5 result in his heat race, and he then rolled that momentum into winning the Main Event!
In the end, IONIC Edge chassis had one of the best outings of any manufacturer on the weekend, scoring 1 Heat win, 5 Podiums, and 3 Main Event wins with just a handful of entrants across 4 classes in total.
